Review of the Analects

The Analects of Confucius was the teaching of Confucius. Confucius was a Chinese philosopher and a great thinker. They lived in 551 BC - 479 BC.

As a series of words and dialogues between Confucius and his disciples, the Analects of Confucius was written by his disciples a few years after his death. The "The Analects" consists of 20 books [chapters] and is basically a living rule. When reading this rule book, it reminds me of the 13 virtues of Benjamin Franklin: temperance, silence, order, determination, frugality, industry, sincerity, justice, gentleness, cleanliness, tranquility, chastity and humility.

Like Franklin's virtues, some of the rules in Confucius's rulebook no longer apply today, but I also appreciate reading the Analects, just as I appreciate reading the autobiography of Benjamin Franklin, because some gems are scattered in two In the text.

Here are some things that stand out for me. Although I am not always satisfied with this language, I pay great attention to the writing time of the Analects. I believe your list will be different.

  1. Confucius said: "People who have knowledge at birth are the highest-ranking people. Those who learn and are very easy to master knowledge are the next ones. Those who are dull and stupid, and who guide the study, another class next to these people. For those who are dull For those who are stupid and not learning, they are the lowest level."

  2. The philosopher Donald Tsang said: "I look at myself from three aspects every day: I may not be faithful when doing business for others; may I be dishonest when I interact with friends; may I not master and practice the teacher? Instructions."

  3. The philosopher Yu said: "When the agreement is reached in the right way, what is said can be better. When respect is expressed in the right way, people will stay away from shame and shame. It is the right person, he can Make them his guide and master."

  4. "To see what is right, not to do it, is lack of courage."

  5. Master said: "Looking loyalty and sincerity as the first principle. No friend is not equal to yourself. When you have shortcomings, don't be afraid to give up."

  6. Tsze-chang asked what the characteristics of this good man are. Master said: "He did not step on the footsteps of others, and he did not enter the saint's room."

  7. Master said, "When the internal inspection did not find any mistakes, what needs to be worried, what is terrible?"

  8. Master said: "Don't rush to get things done quickly; don't look at small advantages. The desire to complete tasks quickly will prevent them from completing completely. Look at the small advantages to prevent the completion of major issues."

The Analects are easy to read because it is not very long. Click here to download the online version of the book. I am sure that after reading, you will find your own wisdom gems. So what did I get from reading the Analects? Being brave and upright, thoroughly planning, planning your own path, and learning constantly are some of the gems I have discovered.
