Intravenous drug abuse problem

The main risk of intravenous drug use comes from unsanitary conditions. Dirty syringes and utensils can cause blood-borne diseases and infections. Bacteria are the cause of abscesses at the injection site. If left untreated, they can cause sepsis and limb amputation. Sepsis is a serious complication that can result in death unless the patient is given intravenous antibiotics immediately. The infection can spread from the original injection site to include the entire arm or leg, resulting in an emergency amputation of the limb. Injecting drugs into the legs can cause circulation problems, which can also lead to amputation.

Injection of heroin is dangerous because of the bacteria contained in the drug. It is produced under unsanitary conditions and is doped with anything from talc to toffee. Endocarditis is common in heroin abusers. Bacteria in the drug can infect the inner layer of the heart. Liver diseases such as systolic hepatitis and cirrhosis are a common problem. Repeated use can damage the liver and develop scar formation of cirrhosis. Hepatitis B and hepatitis C are viruses that affect the liver. Hepatitis may become chronic and develop into serious complications such as cirrhosis and liver cancer. When heroin is injected, the risk of overdose is high. As the effect changes, the user cannot know the strength of the drug.

Meth poses a danger due to reasons other than heroin. Injection of methyl is dangerous due to the systemic effects of the drug. Methanol suddenly influx into the body, such as when injected, can cause blood pressure to rise. A sudden increase in blood pressure can lead to stroke and heart attack. This effect is more risky for people with pre-existing hypertension or heart disease. Abscesses and infections can also occur with methamphetamine injections, but not as frequently as heroin.

Intravenous drugs that are considered to be the worst form of abuse are a problem. Drug abuse, no matter how innocent it seems, needs to be solved. Any medication can cause intravenous injection. The key is to solve the problem before the problem matures.
