If you are a scrapbook, you can also do other crafts such as quilting and sewing. This can be very useful, especially if you have a lot of legacy material, but you don't know why! You can do some great things with the material on the scrapbook page. The good news is that you need very little material, and even the smallest residue may find its use in your scrapbook layout.
Look for materials that are not too busy or colorful, and you can use them as a backdrop for your layout. Not only is this a fast background technology, but it also provides page texture and depth.
To consume very small residues, cover a card of reasonable thickness to avoid bending when covered. Either paste the material on the back of the card or use glue. The card should be wide enough to form a border around the main photo. You can now attach photos to the center of this card. Black and white photos let you use almost any piece of material.
Another use for your material is as a decoration for the layout. To make a flower, you need a small circle of double-sided paper that is about an inch in diameter [I use Jac' paper]. Cut a material that is 2 inches wide and 7.5 inches long. Loosen the side of the sticky circle and place one end of the material near the center of the circle. Now work around the circle and collect the material at a distance of about half an inch until you work around the circle. To hold the material in place, use a staple or simply stitch a few stitches together. Obviously you need to hide staples or stitches, I like to do this with big scorpions or buttons. What you are doing now is to peel off the back of the sticker and place the flower on your homepage.
If the flower described above seems too difficult, then I have your answer! Look through your materials and find materials with flowers. See if you can find a flower that is easy to cut, or even a group of flowers that work well together. Simply cut the flowers out and stick them to the card, then cut them out. Now they are ready for your scrapbook page. Use glitter glue to enhance the appearance of the flowers and make them sparkle.
I also cut such flowers into handmade cards. Don't just look for flowers because you can use many other things. I like to use butterflies, because once you install them on a card, you can raise your wings and make them look like they are flying! There are many options for the layout of boys and girls, such as fairies, clowns, rockets, teddy bears, etc.
As you can see, materials are a great tool for your scrapbook and are very affordable.
