Three years ago, one of my friends, Herman, sat at home, had no job, and had no education. He doesn't know what he wants to do. He doesn't believe he has the ability to get the lowest level. Today, Herman is a successful software developer and will be promoted to a senior developer. If you are ready to work hard for your success, he is a perfect example.
In 2004, I worked in a company and needed to promote their website on the Internet. I don't know much about search engine optimization, but I know that we need to get some links to our website, which can be a very tedious task. I asked Herman whether he was interested in a boring and low-paying position, he immediately seized the opportunity to say that he would do anything to make money. I explained the situation to my manager. The company provided the Herman R1000 every month and worked 4-5 hours a night. He accepted it. For those who don't know about the South African Rand, one dollar is about seven rand, so the R1000 is about $140. No 4-5 hours a day.
I left the company a few months later and re-worked for them in early 2007. On the first day I returned to work, I was pleasantly surprised to hear that my manager regarded Herman as one of his most important resources. His most loyal staff. He said that if he had problems, he knew that he could rely on Herman to solve the problem. Is this the person who believed that he did not find any job skills three years ago? I can't believe my ears.
In the three years I left, Herman used every opportunity to improve herself and prove her worth to the company during absurd working hours, while also educating herself. Like most 19-year-olds, he spends R1000 every month, but saves money and pays for Microsoft courses to get MCSD certification. At some point, the company got a small web development project that they were not interested in, but Herman once again seized the opportunity and developed the system. In turn, this opened up more doors for him, and today he is one of the main resources of our company's largest customer.
Three years ago, Herman had nothing to know about computers or the Internet. I remember that at the beginning he was searching the keyboard and trying to find every key he needed to press. This year I am very happy to see his excitement when he bought his first car. Today he is more successful than most of his friends. Herman was not a genius. He did not win the lottery and did not hand him his success. I hope my good friends don't take this as an insult, but for me, Herman is like a bulldog. He went out and said, "Thank you for this opportunity. Let me tell you now, you will not regret your decision." Although he did not have previous experience or knowledge, he got a small chance and achieved great success.
I only talked about my friend Herman in this article, but if you can't see the news here, you must be embarrassed. You will definitely get some chances in life, even if there is only a negligible R1000 per month. Don't stand by and say that it is not good enough, otherwise it will never work. Grab every opportunity and do your best. There are a lot of lazy people, and if you are ready to work hard, you will be notified and get more opportunities.
