12 excellent reference books for collecting vintage jewellery in the UK

You are eager to gain knowledge and want to learn more about the vintage clothing jewellery in your collection. But if you live in the UK which book to buy?

There are hundreds of reference books to choose from, most of which are written in the United States by authors in the United States. What is the specific situation of ours in the UK?

3. Tips for collecting jewelry: How to buy more at a lower price! Author: Leigh Leshner [ISBN 0-89689-180-1]

Again is a timeline and historical view, but a book of absolute gems, as it has a back and mechanism or discovery, which is essential for dating jewelry. This book looks at style and materials through specific photos. Prom jewelry, art plastic, vintage, manufacturing methods, Scandinavian, embossed. Mainly short information, but very good manual guide. American books, price guide [2005]. Another great book that can be read on a bus or train.

4. Jewelry and Jewelry Clare Phillips [V&A] [ISBN 978-1-85177-535-4] or Jewelry: The Art Deco Library is edited by Janet Swarbrick [ISBN 1-902328-13-2]

It is impossible to decide which UK books provide the most information. Have I included both?

8. Gadgets, buttons and beads: the bohemian heritage of Sibelle Jargstorf [ISBN 0-88740-467-7]

This is another jewel in a book; because we imported a lot of vintage jewellery from this country from Bohemia to the Second World War, and then a small amount. 10. Victorian Jewelry by Margaret Flowers [No ISBN]

Not a book about vintage but antique jewelry, now out of print, but there are still multiple versions. First published in 1951, but worth reading. Gain insight into the influence of the Victorian era and see it in the revival of works. Birmingham's role in mass production of jewelry. This book is often considered to be influential in later books. The Victorian era has three parts, each with the most common patterns of that period. Does it make me laugh at the author's pure snobbish attitude, but it is worth reading. There are very few photos, most of them are black and white photos, not very clear.

11. Scottish Jewelry: Diana Scarisbrick's Victorian Passion

Scottish jewellery has sprung up in the UK. Since the mid-nineteenth century, popularity has grown, and thousands of designs and works have been produced in factories in Scotland and England. This situation continued into the late twentieth century, mainly in Birmingham. This book is a good introduction. In this version, the two centuries are covered with pearls, figures, reliefs, art nouveau, decorative arts and plastics. The difference between Georgia, Victoria and Edwardian jewelry. This is just a brief reference to the general books of old-fashioned jewels, as more and more books enter the market or I find that out-of-print books will change. There are more books about Bangladesh, Avon, Sarah Coventry, Egyptian Revival Jewelry, Haskell, D&E, Wilson and Butler and much more.

Even with so much information, I still feel that I have just smashed the surface. As mentioned earlier, there is a lack of jewelry information from Ciro Pearls, Sphinx, Exquisite, Miracle, Hollywood, Thomas Le Mott and many other companies that produced a lot of jewelry in this country in the twentieth century and are now very popular worldwide. value.
