Recalling the instant poetry (just add a word!), Author: Larry Berger

I was very interested when I received a copy of this poetry chapter for review. This is not a typical poetry collection. Author, ' Laughing' Larry Berger performed these poems in a variety of cafes in Los Angeles in 1996 in front of an interactive audience.

Writing poetry is not easy, let alone creating poetry in front of the crowd, which is why I was led to discover Berger's wit, imagination and linguistic talent. Some of these verses are as short as a few lines, some as long as two pages, exploring a variety of themes and themes, from fun and relaxation to seriousness and transcendence.

A good example of the author's lighter poetry is "bubble gum." This poem captures a moment, a snapshot of pure happiness. The recurring theme in this work is that modern people are trapped and kept in cages, slaves and prisoners of their own cars and apartments. One of the poems is "leprosy."

In other poems, such as "Four Thousand Years ago [Prayers of Cracked Baby]", the author conducted a philosophical review of life, showing readers the harsh image of society, injustice and violence exposed by humans. Through history. Berger uses the symbolic metaphor of blood red - by the way, this metaphor reappears in some of his other poems.

Some of my favorite poems in this book are Berger's poems that capture a happy moment in a world of disasters in every corner. For example, in the "Green Tea Ice Cream", which is about the prediction that the world will end in 2012, Berger ends this verse, and the narrator is very happy because he just enjoys the delicious green tea ice cream.

There are some memorable lines in this series. I am not sure if Berger intends to leave his best poems, but "New York's cold KFC" is definitely the best for me. This poem is like a story about a man who has just been robbed in the Great Central. Just missed the death, he returned to his dirty, cold, and collapsed from terrorism and exhaustion. Later, he woke up hungry, the only thing left in the refrigerator was some cold KFC leftovers. Berger ended the poem and book - with:

And guys
from

  I must tell you!
from

Road killing has never been so delicious!

Instant poetry [just add words!] is forty-eight poems. I am amazed at the author's creativity, sense of humor, and sometimes a deep understanding of the human condition. I don't read poetry often, but I find that real-time poetry is fascinating and interesting. If you like poetry and want to try something different, I suggest you grab this book.
