To help with this kind of planning, I borrowed from the idea of ​​the business world: the Personal Development Plan, or "IDP." IDP is an agreement between employees and their employers that aims to achieve a set of goals together.

However, you are not required to develop an IDP in your business environment. Anyone can form an IDP to help them achieve their personal goals. Fundamentally, internally displaced people are just plans for personal growth - everything we should have, no matter who pays our wages.

Each personality type has a different perspective on the meaning of success. Self-awareness is a common goal that will help everyone achieve personal success. Many people think about what others mean about success. They don't know what is really important to them. This is completely normal. In our lives, we all have important role models and influencers who may have fundamental values ​​that are completely different from our own. If this is the case, it is important to recognize that the differences between what we teach are really important, and what we personally think is really important is the difference in perspective. If we spend time and energy trying to satisfy others' ideas of success and ignore or devalue any conflict in our own mind, then we will find ourselves exhausted. What really matters to us is an important step towards personal success.

Follow these 3 simple steps to implement your own personal development plan.

1. Create your personal growth action list

The only reasonable place to start a personal development task is yourself. Start by creating a list of all the things you might be doing [but not currently], which will have a positive impact on your life. Use this list of living areas as a starting point to guide you:


  • cause

  • financial

  • relationship

  • Family

  • health

  • Learn

  • Emotional

  • spirit

  • character

  • contribution

  • joke

Try to perform at least one operation for each zone, but don't worry if it gets stuck. You can always go back and add content later. If your list is perfect, you can sort all the items from the simplest project to the bottommost project.

2. Get highly motivated

As your willpower begins to reduce these awesome changes in your life, you need to have the right motivation to move on. This is why your next step will be:


  • Define and document your personal vision and mission statement. Your vision will guide you and serve as a source of strength and inspiration. Your mission statement puts everything you do in a larger context, giving you greater meaning and a sense of accomplishment as you move forward.

  • set a goal. Turn your personal growth initiatives into concrete and measurable milestones. Make sure they have a due date and write in the current tense with action verbs. Here is an example: "On April 20, 2014 [Deadline] I [now] completed [action verb] Virgin London Marathon [details]".

  • Create a weekly action plan. Be sure to break down your goals into manageable parts so that you can easily see the next small step and the distance you arrive.

3. Find an assessment criterion: How will you measure your success as you move forward? A goal that cannot be evaluated in some way is difficult to keep working. Create a set of temporary milestones - pass the lessons, post articles, make x dollars - and note if you meet them.
