Ontario Sports and Olympic Youth Academy (OOYA) shapes the leader beyond the 2010 Winter Olympics

The leadership of our Canadian youth is universal and active. As a volunteer, I was a witness and observer of a four-day extraordinary meeting at the University of Ottawa [May 11-14]. This year's theme is "doing something." Representatives of the 2006 Olympic Youth Academy in Ontario were 15 Ontario students representing their high school. These students confirm that our youth will bring new leadership to the country, their provinces and their communities.

OOYA is sponsored by the Ontario Sports League, OFSAA and the Canadian Olympic Committee. The Ontario Olympic Youth Academy is held once a year for two purposes:

1. To share the magic of the Olympic Games in a "hands-on" format by debating, discussing, discovering, meeting, communicating, playing, laughing at active and dynamic four-day meetings.

2. Meet with Olympic athletes, coaches, organizers and managers and listen to them about the impact of the Olympics on their lives.
