How many hours do you leave at the local mountain bike park? If something goes wrong on the road, what steps do you need to take to ensure you are covered? This handy list covers the main tools and other items that I will be driving in a two to three hour drive and will not leave me too far from civilization. On short trips, you don't want to be pushed down by too many gears, but at the same time you need the smallest equipment to compensate for the possibility of gear failure and bad weather.

Depending on the season and altitude you are riding, you can also consider carrying:
