Foot Health Course - Your New Life Ticket

Ready to start a new career in foot health training courses?

If so, your search is over. Training as a foot health practitioner, a podiatrist assistant or nail technician [performing a pedicure or nail cutting] may be the best thing you will do. With the aging population in most Western countries, the foot care industry is about to emerge from the baby boom, so now is the best chance for you to join.

In the UK, there are three major educational institutions offering foot health courses for students who wish to train as a Foot Health Professional [FHP's].

Best Foot Care Course Provider :

  • Stonebridge College
  • SMEA Institute
  • The image of a foot health practitioner [formerly the West Midlands School of Chiropora]
  • Open college

All provided foot training is divided into two parts, a theoretical part and a practical part. Through theory, you can learn in a comfortable home or distance learning, because there are dedicated counselors to help and guide you. The practical part is completed in one or two weeks in the equipped training facility. These foot care programs give students the confidence to perform basic foot care, such as removing corn and calluses, as well as treating various foot and nail conditions such as fungal and sputum infections.

The cost of these courses may seem slightly higher from the outside, about £2,000, depending on the number of weeks in the internship period. However, when you compare it to the amount you can get, it's worth it.

Once you have completed a foot care course, you will be eligible and registered to practice in the organization, usually they will provide your insurance. However, you will not be able to use the title "Chiropod Doctor". Or ' Podiatrist' because these are now legally protected titles.

Footcare World's current foot care opening

If you are looking for the UK's current form of foot care industry, the following is a structure based on educational requirements [this does not include one of the largest industries - footwear]:

  • Podiatrist / chiropod
  • Podiatric Assistant [American Medical Pedicure]
  • Foot health practitioner
  • Nail Technician / Pedicurist [Medi Pedi in the US]
  • Reflexologists

Podiatry is a specialized end point for foot health with invasive surgery, such as ingrown toenails and bunion removal, and gait analysis to define the orthosis. The podiatrist's foot health course is usually a full-time college degree but offers a part-time course.

With the Podiatry Assistant, you need to complete approximately 500 hours of oversight exercises [NHS or private], including verbal and hands-on assessments.

Although at the lower end of the scale, a good way to enter the foot health industry is to train as a nail technician or Pedicurist. They are part of a ten-member beauty therapist course, but can be done separately at some universities. Their purpose is to beautify the feet, and many people just find that they need to cut their nails, so the nail technician's income potential is no different from the foot health doctor's income potential.

Typically, FHP's business will be based on home visits. However, there are many advantages, such as being your own boss, working and charging you what you like, and reducing costs.

What's most surprising is that by completing one of the foot health courses, it will give you an amazing amount compared to the average 9-5 population, giving you the tools to change your life. Better - if you set up your exercises correctly.
