Fishing the current Ozark River in Missouri

There is no doubt that the current river is the most diverse stream in Missouri. It began with a creek river in the spring creek stream and gradually became one of the best small-mouth carp creeks in the country. In addition to these species, there are Rock Bass, Walleye, and of course Bluegill.

The first 20 miles of the river form the classic squid water. The river began in Montauk Spring and rises in the riverbed of Pigeon Creek. Three miles below this point, from March 1 to October 31, there is a rainbow trout stocked every day. The upper part of the river flows through Montauk State Park and is managed only for flies. Artificial baits that are used for fishing on rotating rods, such as hoe clamps and single hook cocktail rotators, are fully legal with conventional flying devices.
