What happened to the Medical Insurance Assistance Program J - 2010?

The Medicare Supplement Program J is one of the federally standardized Medicare supplement programs. A number of articles have been written and discussed regarding the upcoming changes to the standard health insurance supplement plan on June 1, 2010. A major change in program modernization is the elimination of some programs, including the Medigap program. J. However, it is important to note that existing J-plan policyholders will not lose their current plan J reports due to the modernization of the program. .

In fact, the two benefits of canceling Plan J. J by default to distinguish it from the most common Medigap Plan Plan F are Preventive Care and At Home Recovery. Due to lack of use, the Medicare and Medicaid Services Center [CMS] eliminated these two benefits from all programs. Eliminating these benefits means that J is a repetition of F, so it is discarded.

In any case, the two benefits of being abolished are not very popular or often used. However, in some cases, the price of J and F is very close, and the J plan is meaningful for some health insurance registrants.

Again, existing J-Plan policy holders will not withdraw from their current Plan J coverage and will not leave. It is worth noting, however, that existing J-plan policy holders will be in the so-called "closed" business block. This means that the new J policy will not be sold after June 1, 2010. Some speculate that this will cause Plan J's rate to grow faster on Plan J than other plans. While this makes logical logic [older policy holders equal more insurance policies equal to higher interest rates], it remains to be seen that the revocation of Plan J has a real and lasting impact on existing J policy holders.

As always, the recommended action plan is to carefully and fairly consider all the options in your zip code. If there is no plan for J to be within $10-15 of F [or other higher-level plan], it usually doesn't make sense to you based on the lack of two distinct benefits and an uncertain future associated with J.
