It is one of my favorite creative tools. It is easy to understand and implement, but can be very powerful and efficient.

Features

These ideas will help. So some of the ideas generated by SCAMPER look strange at first - then you have to figure out what they are useful for - and whether this feature is worth developing.

Here's a short description of how to apply these creative tools and illustrate the problem with some examples:

  1. Alternative : Ask yourself which parts of the product, service or process may be replaced by something else. This may include components, objects, materials for the product, people and roles involved in the process. example : Meet your restaurant guests with children instead of adults.
  2. Combine : Find ways to combine individual things together to integrate steps and operations. example : When a technician is on a family service visit - ask them to suggest upgrades or special offers to their customers [for example, joint technicians and salespeople].
  3. Adaptation/adjustment : A thing or a specific customer base that makes a product or service or part of it more suitable for or in contact with its environment. example : Children's real work phone - small grip, funny ring, colorful design.
  4. modify : Change the properties of a product or service to make it bigger, smaller, have different colors, tastes, and more. example : Very small artwork must be viewed with a magnifying glass.
  5. For other uses : Find other uses for products or services that are different from their original use. example : If you draw measures on both sides, you can also use a pencil or pen as a ruler.
  6. eliminate : Remove the main features or components of a product or service. This may seem strange at first - because we really want to provide more functionality for the product. However - usually it can lead to demanding innovations, simple and unexpected products. example : Shoes without color - "Perspective" shoes; products without a fixed price - the amount the customer chooses to use after the trial period.
  7. Rearrange or reverse : Change the order of operations, reversing or arranging components in a new order. example : An online version of a book in which the chapters are arranged in a random order, unlike the original printed version.

Come on - Start using these creative tools to generate your own ideas.
