Misoprostol is used to help expel pregnancy. Misoprostol is a prostaglandin that induces uterine contractions and softens and dilates the cervix. Use mifepristone to complete the abortion process about two days later. When used in combination with mifepristone, abortion is completed approximately 97% of the time.
After taking the mifepristone and misoprostol regimens, it is common to experience pelvic spasm and vaginal bleeding and spots, including an average of 9-16 days of tissue and thrombus discharge. Frequent nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headache, fever, chills, weakness and diarrhea.
