Innovation Management - Is this idea suitable for the company?

Creativity can be defined as problem identification and creative generation, while innovation can be defined as choice of ideas, development and commercialization.

There are different processes that can enhance problem identification and creativity. Similarly, different processes can enhance thinking choice, development, and commercialization. While there are no established commercially successful firefighting pathways, these processes increase the likelihood of generating and selecting good ideas and do not waste investment in developing and commercializing these ideas.

One of the useful ways to evaluate ideas is to analyze whether the company responsible for turning ideas into commercial success, the team or the individual has the required fit.

Suitable for companies can be measured in a variety of ways:

a] Does the idea have a strategic fit with the company? This may be a good idea, but without a strategic fit, its development and commercialization can lead to long-term problems. In this case, there are three options: abandon, license or create a joint venture.

b] Does the company have the technical expertise to make it effective? If not where can I find it? What is the cost of importing technical expertise?

c] Does the organization have the business capabilities to make it effective? These include marketing capabilities, new product development capabilities, and the ability to manage a wide variety of dispersed employees and facilities. Again, is this idea enough to justify the cost?
