Planning to travel to New York City soon? Do you want to participate in some Broadway shows and still keep your budget? Here are some great tips for getting into New York City, where you can see some dramas that don't cost money.
Go to New York City
Trying to decide which airport to fly to? Instead of flying directly to New York City, consider flying to Newark, New Jersey. why? The NJ Transit train will take you directly from Newark Airport to Penn Station in New York City in 30 minutes, with a one-way fare of $13.00. This is much cheaper and faster than taking a taxi from one of New York airports to downtown Manhattan.
Get off at Penn Station in New York City. When you are at the station, purchase a 7-day unlimited metrocard. The card is $31.00 and will allow you to reach the city after 7 days of stay. This will come in handy when you plan your sightseeing trip.
Go to Times Square
When you leave the Penn Station, head to Times Square to see all the theatre performances you have in town. When you stand in the middle of Times Square, look up at all the billboards. Both Broadway and Broadway have performances. There are many choices!
As you look around, you will notice the "red steps" of Broadway and the 47th TKTS ticket booth. Except Tuesday, it is open at 1am and is open every day at 2pm. How do you know that you found it? These locations are usually open 4 hours before the ticket booth in Times Square. They open the door every day at 11am, but the Brooklyn area is closed every Sunday and Monday. Getting tickets in other locations will allow you to get a better seat choice in the night's game because they are open earlier than Times Square. The best part, usually you can go to the window without a long wait!
Use your metrocard to pull you out of the city to one of the locations. I suggest buying tickets in Brooklyn one day, where you can stop for lunch and enjoy pizza. After lunch, you can walk through the Brooklyn Bridge. The scenery of this city is worth a visit! It's time to buy a ticket and enjoy the show!
