This trekking is located in the mountainous area above the North Fork of the Alene River in the Coeur d&#; in the Idaho Panhandle National Forest. This forest company has about 2.5 million acres of beautiful mountains, clear lakes and rivers, ancient cedar forests, fish and wildlife, and is a range of outdoor activities.
As for this trekking, it records a trail leading to a waterfall that is lush and the vegetation comes from a cool cascade of mist. The trail is wide and consists mainly of large gravel, along Yellow Dog Creek, which is about 0.3 miles from the parking lot.
The waterfall is on the same creek, below Fern Falls, above is Shadow Falls. To reach Fern Falls [about 12 feet high], the first of the two, just a mile along the trail to reach the wooden bridge above the creek [there is a sign, so you can't miss it].
The second and largest waterfall is the Shadow Falls [about 24 feet], hidden in a trough above the fern waterfall, in a darker shade [hence the name]. You can find it by continuing along the rocky path of Fern Falls for hundreds of yards, where the trail doubles and climbs the waterfall [hundreds of yards]. The steps of the rock to the hidden water falls.
On a hot day, these waterfalls are perfect for kids to play, you can walk behind them, and even in August, the water is still cool. Fern Falls has a great place to enjoy a picnic lunch, which is suitable for all levels of competence. I recommend taking a picnic lunch on a hot day and then relaxing.
In addition, there are plenty of opportunities for camping and fishing when you are on the river. Take a look at some campsites and find a nice swimming pool. Big Hank is probably the most beautiful campsite on the river.
