Bringing lush, beautiful terrain to the Pacific Northwest will also affect the skills of most golfers. Portland is one of the best golf courses in Oregon, with a large number of public courses within a 30-minute drive from the city centre; there are about three dozen 9-hole and 18-hole courses to choose from. A variety of terrains will allow you to use all your clubs.
Located east of Portland, Kah-Nee-Ta is an ideal place for golfing. Attractions here include mineral spa pools, swimming pools, teepee campsites, resort accommodation, casinos, horseback riding and 18-hole golf courses. Moreover, in a rainy state like Oregon, the fact that the sun shines at Kah-Nee-Ta for 300 days a year is a real reward for golfers.
Central Oregon is a great place for a serious golf holiday. There are more than a dozen 18-hole public golf courses between Black Butte and Sunriver. Black Butte Ranch has two courses; both are over 7,000 yards. At Crooked River Ranch, the course spans 300 feet of canyon. The Eagle Crown Resort in Redmond offers three 18-hole courses; two more courses can be found in the town. There are four 18-hole courses in Bend, and Sunrier Resort has two other public courses, totaling 14. The resort's accommodation is also very rich.
Washington's newest public golf course opened in Cle Elum last August; the rope knights occupy 7,271 yards and are immersed in local mining history. This is the fourth stadium that is more than 7,000 yards open in central Washington, making this area an ideal location for long distance players.
There are four public stadiums over 7,000 yards in the southeast corner of Washington; they are located in Kennewick, Pullman, Richland and Walla Walla. Kennewick's Canyon Lake and Pullman's Palouse Ridge are among the highest rated courses in the state. There are three islands in the San Juan Islands in western Seattle that offer public golf. On the island of Okas, the Okas Golf Club is located in an evergreen forest dotted with ponds. The San Juan Island Country Club offers a connected public golf course with gorgeous water views, island and mountain views. The Lopez Island Golf Course is only accessible by boat or plane and is close to the island's small airport. This makes this part of the San Juan Islands a great place for island-to-island golf.
There are 20 public golf courses in the Tacoma area, 8 of which are located in Tacoma, while in Lewisburg, the military base provides three public spaces for 9-hole courses. You can also find three public courses in Auburn, two in Sumner and one in Spanaway, one in DuPont, Puyallup, Union and Gig Harbor. This makes it an ideal location for Seattle and Tacoma golfers.
