My name is Jay W. Nelmes and I was born in Petropolis, Brazil in 1965. Although I have not lived there for a long time, I remember this beautiful country, it always aroused my interest. My brother John Charles is 16 years older than me, so he has the opportunity to explore the jungle often and collect butterflies and various other insects he has installed in glass frame boxes. His collection is fascinating and inspired me to enlighten entomology.
I tried to imitate my brother's work, but to no avail. The way he uses steam to open his wings, and other ways to save them, is something I have never learned. When we both went to the UK, they left, and I moved to the United States in 1970. age.
Later in my childhood, I still collected insects, trying to imitate my brother, but never reached the ability to do so. Then I started to attract the world of reptiles and amphibians, because this started to interest me.
I started building my first original cage for my first lizard, a lizard at the age of 14. The world of reptiles at the time was not common. So looking for anything in the pet store is not really available. The world of fish and birds seems to always be accessible, but not the world of reptiles, which makes ownership and learning more interesting.
Over the years, I have studied drawing, woodworking and electrical. I got married to my wife, Tinamarie. When we were on honeymoon, I knew she liked these types of animals. When we got home on the train, I bought an iguana in a styrofoam cooler. .
Shortly after the marriage, my wife was ill for several years. This is my artisan skill focused on making decorative cages. For the reptile world, because everything is concentrated in birds and fish. It seems that there is a need to provide suitable housing for reptiles, so my task is to put my energy into this area.
This made me a home to take care of her. I am very happy that she said that she has done a good job and is now my assistant for more than 25 years. We have traveled to more than 36 states and now offer these fences for homes, museums and universities and even celebrities.
Each shell is handcrafted and designed to meet the needs of the animal. These enclosures are particularly well suited for reptiles because I designed them so they can hold a lot of water. Most of these chassis are usually delivered and set by me personally, including internal settings as a complete system.
Most importantly, maintenance is fast because it comes with a simple flushing and rinsing system.
Since 1997, we have been building and supplying these cages and placing them throughout the United States.
