Cycling is the new golf: Leica and Latte replace the meeting room

We have all seen them. A group of weekend warriors, wrapped in bright [usually overstretched] Lycra, ate a latte in a café filled with a version of the professional bike that looks like a slightly overweight. On weekends, most downtown cafes are very familiar with the familiar "beep" of splints on polished concrete. Combined with the usual brunch conversation, you will hear a heated debate about the average watt, the aerodynamics of the shoe cover and the best leg hair removal technology.

Although MAMILs [Lycra's middle-aged men] have long been beaten and fired for struggle for a certain identity crisis, many are now working to achieve the true commercial benefits of weekend group travel.

For the past three decades, Golf has used the Senior Management Committee as a business network for discerning executives. Many high-profile corporate transactions are placed on the fairways of the world's golf courses, or in post-game drinks.
