Control your high blood pressure with the Omron BP785 sphygmomanometer

The Omron BP785 is another great product known to manufacturers of automatic blood pressure monitors. The device is a 10-series version of the popular Omron HEM-780 that has the same features as its predecessor and has some extra features that make it a better proposition for accurate measurements.

To control your high blood pressure, you need to keep checking to make sure you are taking the right medicine. The best way to achieve this is to get your own home sphygmomanometer, which is used 3 to 4 times a day.

Omron BP785

The first thing you noticed about the Omron BP785 is that the front panel has now changed to black and looks more sexy than the old white shape.

This may be the most obvious change in the display, but there are some useful additional features hidden inside the device.

Its retention on the OMRON HEM-780 will ensure that it must be well received and at least as accurate.

Comfit cuffs and intellisense

Both products are unique to all Omron models, not just the Omron BP875. The Comfif cuff is a pre-formed accessory that can be easily placed on the arm without any help. It also includes a stitching mark to ensure it is properly positioned on the arm for the most accurate reading. Another advantage of Comfit cuffs is that they usually have cuffs for 2 arm sizes [standard adults, ranging from 9 to 13 inches, large adults, ranging from 13 to 17 inches]. Comfit gloves are suitable for any arm size between 9 and 17 inches.

The Omron BP785's built-in IntelliSense technology works because it monitors blood pressure levels and automatically inflates the Comfit cuff to an optimal level for comfort and measurement accuracy.

Display unit

The Omron BP785 display unit has a sliding front panel with 2 rows of buttons and a user ID selector switch at the bottom with an easy-to-read large LCD display. The main figures on the screen from the top are the systole [the highest pressure level at which the heart beats], the diastolic pressure [the lowest pressure level at which the heart is at rest], and the lower graph is the pulse rate.

Alert symbols include:

  • Irregular heartbeat - This signal is displayed if 2 or more irregular heartbeat rhythms are detected in the measurement.
  • Movement error - will be displayed if there is excessive movement during the measurement.
  • If the weekly morning average of systolic blood pressure and/or 85 diastolic blood pressure is above 135, then morning hypertension is indicated.
  • Cuff Wrap Guide - This message is displayed if the cuff is not installed correctly.

measurement accuracy

The Omron BP785 has many protections to provide accurate declarations - so you should make sure to make any measurements.

These include:

  • Comfit cuffs - markers to ensure proper fit
  • Cuff Wrap Guide - for correct cuff fit guarantee
  • Move error symbol - make sure there are no wrong glitch
  • Dual Sensor - Double Check Measurement - If a fault is detected, the calibration check light will flash.

The Omron BP785 also uses an averaging system called TruRead. In this mode, three readings are read simultaneously and the average of these readings is displayed and recorded.

When the device is set to TruRead mode and the Comfit cuff is installed, 3 blood pressure measurements are automatically taken [the cuff will deflate and re-inflate between each measurement]. The time between readings can be selected as needed between 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 60 seconds and 120 seconds. According to internationally accepted guidelines, the default is 60 seconds.

Measurement storage

The Omron BP785 is capable of storing up to 100 measurements for each of 2 users. It can be used in guest mode to view measured values; however, visitor mode readings are not recorded. It also saves up to 8 weeks in the morning and 8 weeks in the evening for each user.

If you have high blood pressure, it is recommended that you purchase your own blood pressure monitor, such as the Omron BP785, to get consistent, accurate results that you can share with your doctor. Don't rely on the results you get from infrequent access to surgery. There are many different models to choose from, but the Omron BP785 offers all the best qualities in a sphygmomanometer.
