Travel Insurance - Do I need insurance for my vacation in the UK?

Last week, my wife and I booked two center holidays in the Scottish Islands. Stay on Skye for seven days, then take the ferry to Steornabhagh on Lewis Island for another seven days. Wonderful scenery, plenty of walks and lots of tranquility.

I might be shocked when my local travel agency thinks I want an extra £27.50 travel insurance. I think, not your Nellie locks the Ness monster. Who needs a vacation travel insurance in the UK? National health services are free, and in an emergency, my son can drive us home.

Later my living room relaxed and I started thinking.

The misfortune of the holiday not only occurs abroad. So wearing a pessimistic hat, I took down the risk:

Some people will steal our luggage

Last week, I specially purchased a digital camera for singing and dancing. Get it on the internet. I may lose it when I leave.

If any of us are hospitalized, we don't want to be drowned by the Isle of Skye. We want to transfer to a local hospital in Warwickshire.

My wife's parents are going to school. God bless, but if something happens before we go, I have to cancel the holiday.

Before we leave, one of us may get sick and we will be forced to cancel. Since the ferry and the hotel cannot be cancelled, we will lose everything we have paid.

Ferries to Lewis Island may be very delayed. In addition to the inconvenience, we have to arrange overnight stays at Skye.

One of us may be called to serve as a juror.

Then it touched me. If I am on vacation in the UK, my existing family and content policies may make me lose my camera or luggage. I dug up the policy document. Fortunately I did it. I was only insured for "personal property". If they were listed and I just bought my digital camera, I have not listed it as a valuable item in my policy.

The other side is bothering me. If I make a vacation-related claim in the My Family and Content policy, I will lose the no-claims discount. That is not a good idea. I have received a 10-year free record of the claim, which still costs me £310 a year. I took another note - remember, when the policy renews, see if I can lower the price on the internet.

So far, the £27.50 travel policy seems worthwhile.

Now my wife said that I am a little old skin. So keep the image! I know, go back online and check out the travel agency's information. The policy is £27.50. Is it competitive?

Not all sites I've visited can provide me with a one-way travel policy to vacation in the UK, but within ten minutes I found what I wanted - saving over £10!

It's time to study the small print to confirm that I have the cover I want. Great, all the risks I noticed are covered. If my ferry is delayed for 12 hours, the insurance company will even pay £30, then let me choose to cancel my trip to Lewis Island and get my money back.

Now they will not pay any price? If my vacation is less than two nights, or if my hotel is less than 25 miles away from home, I am not insured. I must also satisfy the first £30 for any claim. It seems to be fair to me.

Made a decision. Just enter my credit card details and I can click to insure.

Peace of mind!
