5 ways to naturally change your brain and body - research shows the impact on the eyes, brain and emotions

About a decade ago, one of my favorite places in Chicago was the home of a group of elk.

Yes, the actual elk in the Windy City. It is a forest reserve on the outskirts of the "Elk" Grove. Talk about the impressive animals. They can be over 9 feet tall - one of the fastest land mammals... sprinting speeds of up to 45 miles... and can jump 8 feet vertically. In addition, the bull elk snorted [sounds like the ring of the Lord of the Rings]

Anyone, saved in this forest, you can walk... hob... bicycle... even skip the gravel trail while watching the 700-pound beast .

In addition to marveling at these giants, when you are there, you completely forget that you are in the suburbs - it feels like you have been thrown into the wilderness of Colorado. This is really an escape.

But research shows that there are other things in the natural environment like this - some actually change your brain!

No more trouble.

Here are five health-promoting effects:

  1. Relieve tension, anxiety and depression
Researchers Stanford University It was found that walking in nature for 90 minutes "reduced brain activity associated with key factors of depression". Another 2015 study found that walking in nature can reduce anxiety... reduce rumors [replay events or situations beyond...] and increase happiness and other positive emotions. A South Korean study even found that just staring at nature's photos can improve emotional stability and enthusiasm.

  1. Improve sleep quality
Take time to improve sleep quality in nature. Sunlight can improve melatonin, a hormone that regulates the sleep cycle.

  1. Prevent visual impairment
Sitting on a computer, cell phone or reading a book for hours may cause eye strain. Researchers at Ohio State University, the Australian National University, and Sun Yat-Sen University [China] found that lack of sun exposure is a major factor in children's myopia [myopia]. When you are walking outside, you can easily relax your eyes by focusing on distant objects.

  1. Increase creativity
German researchers have found that enveloping yourself in nature will inspire your creativity. A 2012 study even showed that looking at greens under 10 years of age would increase creativity more than any other color.

  1. Change your brain
According to a study Max Planck Institute for Human Development People living near the forest have healthier amygdala - the almond-shaped part of the brain that is responsible for anxiety and stress.

Researchers predict that the healthier this part of the brain, the more resilient you are, and the better your ability to handle stress. Therefore, simply approaching nature makes this part of the brain healthy [even if it is controlled by other factors]

So if you are a city tenant, please spend more time in these places... even if it is only half an hour a day.

It is not necessarily fancy.

It doesn't have to have a deer [shucks!].

It must be natural.

This is easy to do

But it is also very easy to do.
